![]() While there were plenty of staff at the Front Desk, we were told to bring our luggage outside to the bellstand to be stored (when they just tag it and bring it back inside). ![]() Additionally, we had a few hours to spend in Portland before our evening flight so we wanted to store our luggage after checkout. I shouldn't have to pay city taxes twice. It seemed like since it was "only" $15 that it wasn't worth her time to assist me - just "put it to the Visa on file?" Now I'll have to use up my time to contact Priceline to try to make it right. There was no offer to look into it or contact Priceline on my behalf. She printed out the folio showing what Priceline had paid and the remaining difference but honestly it shouldn't matter since it is between the hotel & Priceline to make the room & tax transaction. I was met with a fairly unhelpful response of "it's a tax". Since I prepaid the room & tax through Priceline I questioned it. At checkout I was told I owed an extra $15 or so for a city tax. It all comes back to the attitude of the staff. The mini bar did not open and the WIFI did not work, but I suppose that can be chalked up to being a newly changed brand and those kinks should work out. A Nespresso machine was resting inside the TV cabinet and was the first time I've seen this type of machine in a guest room. There was also a separate bathtub but we did not use it. The bathroom was large, had very plush towels, and a fantastic stand-up shower with rain showerhead. Our room seemed to be on a corner and had an extended desk area as well. ![]() Large flat screen TV with a great channel selection. Once checked in we were very pleased to see the guest room - huge, plush King bed with soft sheets and plenty of fluffy pillows. Come to find out it had only changed flags on August 1! I'm sure plenty of other guests were unaware of the change and had the same question. It's understandable that we were not alerted to the flag change since we booked through a third party, but it would seem to me that an employee would be able to easily tell us that the brand had changed and let us know we were in the right place straight away without the pretentious back and forth making us feel like we were crazy to ask for anything other than the Dossier. When we said yes, he then said "Oh, they will honor your reservation here". After a bit of unhelpful back and forth including the proclamation that there is no Westin in existence in downtown Portland, he asked if we had a reservation for The Westin. We were met with a dry, "No, this is the Dossier". My husband told the bellman/valet that approached the car that we were looking for The Westin. On our drive in to Portland, Google Maps indicated The Westin was closed which was slightly concerning, but we made our way to 750 SW Alder Street and pulled up to the Dossier. I made the reservation through Priceline when it was still The Westin. The hotel is beautiful and the room was fantastic! But honestly, the staff left a bit to be desired for a hotel that wants to be upscale and deliver "old world hospitality". Stayed at this hotel the night of August 10, 2017.
